Update!

It's been a while since we've posted... Mark and Julie were lucky enough to be vacationing in Europe (!!) while I (Jeanette) held down fort at the studio and all us videographers were busy with early Summer weddings. We're back in swing now, gearing up for the big WEVA Convention in August and the hectic Fall wedding season.

For now, try to stay cool in the July heat (especially if you plan on getting married outside :)) and keep checking back for new posts and video clips!

Online viewing now available!

We are pleased to announce that we are now offering clients the option to post their event highlights online for easy viewing and sharing with friends and family!

For $50, we will post up to ten minutes of your video highlights online through our preferred video sharing site. This will include Opening and Slow Motion highlights and credits. Once your video is posted, we will provide you with a link that sends visitors to only your video and (if you prefer) requests a password to be viewed. This is a great way to share your wedding day with all your guests or those who could not be there!

Last Tuesday night was the monthly AWP (Assosciation of Wedding Professionals) meeting. It was held at the new Legacy Hotel in Rockville, Maryland. Most of you probably remember it as the Ramada Inn on Rockville Pike; in the past year, the hotel has changed ownership and been completely rennovated into a contemporary boutique lodging experience. Reminiscint of European getaways, the building very stylish without feeling fussy or uptight. The banquet and meeting area can comfortably hold a wedding reception for around 200 people.

We also had the pleasure of meeting the new owner of Fiore Floral, a local florist. They provided the flowers for Jaclyn & Charl's wedding May 17 - which we just happened to video! They did a fantastic job; check out some stills we pulled from Jeanette's footage of their wedding:

Jenna Bush's wedding! - pictures & info

We can't resist peeking at celebrity weddings - and this one is a biggie! Check out these pictures taken and released by the White House of Jenna Bush's lakeside wedding (President George W. Bush's daughter). Jenna was married to Henry Hager (a former White House aide) this past Saturday, May 10th, at the Bush family ranch in Crawford, Texas. The bride wore a v-neck mermaid cut Oscar de la Renta gown and twin sister Barbara was the maid of Honor. Looks like it was a classy, tasteful, springtime wedding. Too bad it wasn't a D.C. wedding - what a day that would have been to video, given the oppotunity!!

Why Wedding Video?

Unsure about hiring a videographer? Many couples underestimate the value of a wedding video. Surveys of newleyweds commissioned by WEVA and conducted by Breakthrough Marketing in 2002 and 2005 revealed the following:

• Before the wedding, only a little more than half considered wedding video a “Top 10” service. After the wedding, that number climbs to 75%.
• 38% did not have their weddings videotaped by anyone, and apparently have some regrets. 63% of them now recommend that future brides hire a professional videographer.
• 60% of brides who did not have their wedding day videoed now say they wished they had.
• *When asked: “If you had a choice between looking at your grandparent’s wedding photos or their wedding video, which would you choose?” 61% (of Brides spending $30,000+ on their wedding - which is below the average cost of a DC-Area wedding) said they would rather see the video.

Here at Video Express, we've found these to be the most common reasons to hire a videographer:

• The day goes by so fast it becomes a total blur by the morning after.
• To send copies to relatives who couldn't make the wedding due to distance, illness, etc.
• To capture elderly relatives on video as they dance and enjoy themselves.
